New Draper City Police Chief Announced


DRAPER, Utah. – The Draper City Council voted to appoint John Eining as the Draper City Police Chief.  The decision was made at the December 5, 2017 City Council meeting.  Eining has been serving as the Deputy Police Chief for Draper City since February 2014.  As Deputy Chief, he supervised the daily operations of the police department to include records, patrol, detectives, and animal services.

“I am pleased to appoint our Deputy Chief, Mr. John Eining as the new Draper City Police Chief. John is an outstanding police officer. He is skilled, well trained and understands the unique role police officers play in our community. John is respected in the law enforcement community and he works well with citizens and city management.  Draper City will be well served by Chief John Eining,” said Mayor Troy Walker.

Prior to accepting the Deputy Chief position with Draper City, Eining served for 22 years with the Sandy Police Department including patrol, field training officer, K-9 officer, DARE officer, detective, school resource supervisor, community response team supervisor, and SWAT team commander. Eining proudly held leadership positions in patrol, detectives, and administration.

Newly-appointment Chief Eining commented:  “I am excited for the opportunity to lead the fine men and women of the Draper Police Department. Our goal will always be to enhance our relationships, provide security, and improve the overall quality of life for Draper citizens.”

Chief John E. Eining –December 2017

 

Chief Eining began his law enforcement career in September of 1991 with the South Jordan Police Department. In February 1992, he joined the Sandy City Police Department where he served for 22 years. During his time with the Sandy Police Department, Chief Eining served in a variety of assignments including patrol, field training officer, K-9 officer, DARE officer, detective, school resource supervisor, community response team supervisor, and SWAT team commander. Eining proudly held leadership positions in patrol, detectives, and administration.

In February 2014, Eining was appointed as Deputy Chief of the Draper City Police Department. As Deputy Chief, he supervised the daily operations of the police department to include records, patrol, detectives, and animal services.

Chief Eining holds a Masters of Business Degree, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, and is a graduate of the FBI National Academy Session 230. Eining is a member of the International Chiefs of Police Association, Police Executive Research Forum, and the Utah Police Officers Association.
