With the first winter storms of the year upon us, please remember to follow Draper City’s snow removal policies and ordinances for everyone’s safety.
In order to facilitate snow removal and allow room for the snow plows, residents are not permitted to park a vehicle or trailer on the street from November 15 through April 15 between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. (Draper City Municipal Code Section 14-5-010)
The Police Department may issue a parking citation and/or have vehicles that are parked on the street impounded (towed) at the owner’s expense. To report parking violations in your area, please contact the Draper City Police Department at 801-840-4000.
Blowing, throwing or pushing snow from driveways and walkways into the street creates a traffic hazard and is a Draper City Code violation. Removed snow should be placed onto landscaped areas in the yard instead. (Draper City Municipal Code Section 7-13-030)
CUL-DE-SACS/DEAD END STREETS
A reminder that cul-de-sacs and dead end streets have the lowest priority of snow removal and will be cleared last. This could be 48 hours after a major storm ends.
Snow plows will try to avoid placing snow on sidewalks, but in some instances, this is impossible. The adjacent property owner is responsible to keep sidewalks clear. (Draper City Municipal Code Section 7-13-0303) For snow removal problems regarding sidewalks, please contact the Draper City Code Enforcement Division at 801-576-6539.
As snow plows travel along streets, the snow accumulated on the plow blade has no place to go but in driveways. The more snow that has fallen, the greater the problem will be. Residents can help by piling their shoveled snow on the left side of the driveway facing their home, rather than placing it on both sides at the end of the driveway. Doing this will help snow plow drivers avoid carrying piles from the “upstream” side back across driveways.
